Why do people think that online and computer games qualify as board games?

But for me the definition of a board game is something where you can take it out of the closet, put it on a table, and play face to face with friends. ONLINE games should be in a seperate category! Because Chess,Scrabble,and Risk are considered board games when not played on lined .

The fire and such but lack the game may be played differently by different cultures it the fire and such.
